Some people have noticed a drop in mpg. Some have not noticed any difference.
You need to run several tanks of gas under similar driving conditions to get a decent picture of whats going on.

Yeah I never noticed a significant difference in my mpg. I ran 1.5yrs with and now 1yr without. There are so many factors affecting mpg that the damn makes very little difference.

I had the same thing happen but did not realize what it was until I read several post on the forum about it. Mine went from 15.8 to 14.6. Very glad this is not my dd. recently upgraded the exhaust and it helped reclaim a few lost miles. Currently up to 15.3

I think it only really effects the jeeps mpg's when you're more of a highway driver @ highway speeds. In the city or around town isn't much of a difference. I haven't noticed hardly any difference. I checked my mpg's the other day and I am averaging maybe 18.5, before was like 18.8-19. Not enough to care about. More than likely it will give you worse mpg's due to wind resistance/drag. but nothing that'll stop me from driving a JK, lol

The big difference you'll notice is mostly when you take it off whenever your jeep is closer to being stock. If you take it off after your jeep has been lifted and has new tires and wheels, there's already so much extra drag and resistance that the dam would only be a tiny percentage of the big drop to your mpg's.
I took mine off after I put 35's and a 3" lift on, only because the tires would hit it when I tried to do a tight turn.
