Anybody running the Teraflex Hinged Carrier?
I like the idea of this product but its hard for me to justify spending 500 on a small piece of aluminum. Anybody running this?
The main thing I'm trying to do is ditch the bumper, run evo d ring mounts and still find a way to run my 35" spare
Ideas?

There are a lot of us running it and so far i have not seen any drawbacks / complaints other then price. 425 to 450 isint a bad price for the quality. This thing is built like a brick. Very solid.

I've been running it for about 6 months and it gets the job done. Seems sturdy as hell.
I got this because I wanted a solution that didn't involve drilling and didn't force me into a bumper/carrier combo. Plus I don't have to open the carrier separate from the gate.

No drawbacks other than theres been one that snapped in half... Could have been a faulty one, and im sure they replaced it. But im sure something similar has happened with all bumpers. Price wise i used to run the smitty oversize carrier and it workes fine, but i have finally upgraded to a tire carrier so didnt get to try it for more than 6 months.

There has been one reported break of one, but other than that mine has been running great. Keeps the tire steady, and doesn't clunk at all. Love having one opening mechanism for opening the back as well. Every day functionality is greatly improved by ditching the bumper mounted swing arms imo.
Note: The break was on the carrier mount and not the arm.

I am still undecided on witch way to go. Having a rear bumper w/tire swing arm I would be able to wash and wax the tail gate no problem but, now I would have to open the swing arm then the gate now I would have two gates to open in the rear. What I have now is stock and it bothers me royally not being able to clean the gate without removing the spare.

I was apprehensive too with the $500 price tag for a seemingly small piece of aluminum. I couldn't be happier with my TF hinge. VERY stout, light weight @ 26lbs, able to weigh down my gate with tools on the inside, have their optional rotopax/Hi-lift mount on the outside. Silent functional set up. All in all, cost was worth it to me in the long run. There are a number of threads here that will give you a ton of info and feedback on these awesome hinges.
