I'm in a hard hit area of NJ. I actually only have a blanket, tow straps, and a military folding shovel. All my efforts have been to prepare my house so I can survive there without evacuating. Lots of food in the basement. Generator wired into electric panel. 100 gallons of gas in the shed. Loaded SKS and .40 caliber locked up in the safe.

My buggout bag is basic. Ammo, couple knives, flashlight, batteries, lighters, matches, quick fire start blocks, ramen noodles, bullion cubes, iodine tablets, antibiotics, bandages. And forest service maps and shovel on the jeep. No real threats to evac from Idaho, but always prepared.

IMO the SKS is one of the best SHTF guns you can own. Very reliable.

I always carry: tow strap, food, water bottle with integrated filter, regular shoes, maps, basic tools, never less than 1/2 tank, change of clothes for me and mine, light blanket or sleeping bag, knives, and other self defense items, toilet paper, wipes, 6 small shot bottles of rum/whiskey.

Good idea I'm adding baby wipes and TP to my bug out bag.

I've got a five seven with a 30 round mag for personal defense. As well as some crackers canned tuna, tea lights, lighter, first aid kit ,power bars, Britta water filter bottle... Rope... And a ton of other survival gear.

Honestly, I just can't get into the bug out mentality based on where I live.
