Personally, I would think as long as they can handle the elements (heat, wind, sun, noise) My daughter isnt to much for the top down heading out to the lake because of the wind. She loves it around town and at the beach though. If anything you could get one of those Spiderweb shades to help with the sun and some of the wind.

Not a father, but my nephew just turned two and he had a great time in his rear facing seat... 4lo trail type of deal, but on the ride over he didn't last long before the wind noise became unbearable so we had to move him back into his mom's van... He was one and a half at the time...

All topless, or with a bikini top? I'll be putting my 18 month old girl in the Jeep for short trips to day care in a month or so. Once the hard top comes off, i'll only put the bikini top on (spiderweb). I will keep the doors on, and will have to see if I put the windows down. Depends how hot/cold it is.

I put my boys in at 18 months. They did not like the wind to much at high speed. Around town they loved it. Maybe not the safest thing to do but my brother and I used to ride in the back of the station wagon all the way to FL every summer. That was the 80's, not sure if they even had car seats then.

Both Daughter and Son were 6 months old when we started riding around with no top on. They still love it today but daughter hates when her hair is blowing in her face.
