Do you tow anything with your JK?
Some of you may know that I am in the market for a JK Unlimited. However, now that good weather has blessed San Diego, I really want a boat. Im interested in a bass boat that sits at 18 feet and has a package weight of under 3000 lbs.
Just wondering if anyone tows anything similar...
Thanks all!

I don't tow one right now but am planning on buying one a boat that is. I wouldn't worry about towing a small boat I tow a tent trailer around 2500lbs no problem at all.

We tow a 19' v-hull open bow I/0 mercury alpha 1 motor with 30gallon fuel tank on double axle trailer with no problem at all. Boat and trailer are abbot 4,000lbs. Also tow a fleetwood E3 pup that weighs 3500lbs. Pulls nice and can do 70mph with either. Steep hills slow you down a lot but hey, it's a jeep and you are towing after all.
17' bass boat should be lighter weight with a lighter tongue weight too.
You should be a-ok with an unlimited.
Make sure you at least have 3.73 gears.
Big thing with towing is the "frontal area.". i.e. The vertical area of the front of the trailer and/or boat. Larger this area, harder it is to tow as the wind resistance is greater.

Thanks for the info.
Yeah this boat is fairly light and holds about 32 gallons of fuel. My journey doesn't consist of any large hills, infact the steepest grade may be the boat launch itself.
I did see a black unlimted about a month ago at the bay hooked up to a trailer, but I missed what boat they towed.
As far as the speed...well, good 'ol California laws: 55 MPH...

I tow a Trophy 1802 Walk Around w/ a 90HP Merc. Total weight with boat and trailer (empty) is just under 4000 lbs. I have trailer brakes and a transmission cooler, and I've had no problems.

I have a JKU and tow my 16ft Triton w/ 60hp Mercury. I have 4.10s and no problem towing it. You'll defiantly know its back there and your MPG will nose dive.

I occasionally tow an aluminum enclosed trailer that is 6' x 12' and is 79" tall. It weighs 1900lbs empty. The way it sits now is probably around 2400lbs. Wind is the only thing I really notice, but I drive like an old man with it hooked on. (No offense to any old men who drive like old men. I'm getting closer to that point in life!)
