Soo, to top of the already shitty day I was already having, on my way home I picked up a tank of gas for my lawnmower and placed it in the back of my 12 JKU. I know, I'm a dumba$$. Person in front of me stops quickly and I slam on the binders and good ole Mr. Murphy sees that the tank tips over and dumps about a gallon of gas on my two rear carpets and some on the rear seat and cushion. I pulled the carpet and seat when got home and letting them air out. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the smell from my JKU.

On a side note, I was on my way home from the vet at which I left my chocolate lab, Remi, to have surgery in the am. She has a tumor in her foot and is having her toe amputated. Ain't life grand?

Spray some serious febreze in there. I've had really good luck with commercial spray smelly stuff to spray on the seats.

I would try upholstery shampoo

Take the carpets out and take them to the car wash. Use some powdered tide (a lot), work it in with a scrub brush and blast them out.
As for the seat. Some upholstery cleaner and a wet dry vac. The a gallon of fabreze.

the carpets are easier to clean. you can actually soak them and dry them in sun with know harm.
the cushions are bit trickier.

Thanks. I did some research and found some methods to remove the smell using vinegar, water, and baking soda. I'll do an updated. It will either cure the smell or I'll have a middle school volcano science project in my back seat. Fingers crossed.

Lol, the guys before had some god advice. I had same thing happen, except just to carpets. Washed them out real good, and let them air dry for 7 months in my garage. Put them back in last October, and smelled like new (ish).

Vinegar and water solution, sprayed down carpet and seats. Let it sit. Deloused it with arm and hammer carpet deodorizer. Sat in the sun all day and smells like fresh laundry now. Better than gas fumes. wheww. That was a close one.
