Default I love winning bets.

So the other night as we were putting our 7 week old daughter to sleep my wife bet me that I couldn't put her in her bassinet and her fall asleep on her own without rocking. I turned out all the lights put on the baby monitor to watch her and needless to say she had to pay up and buy my winch. Here was proof that she was asleep on her own. Engo 10000 winch will be here in a few days. Yeah buddyClick image for larger version

Good stuff!!

Does the little one happen to wake up every 2-3 hours through the night crying to be fed?

If she does, she's just at that right age where I can suggest something so you can win your next bet with the wife of getting her to sleep through the night.

Your daughter might be beyond help at her age.....

Seriously though. When my son was just 6 weeks old, he was waking us up every 2-3 hours throughout the night, where one of us had to get up and feed him and seeing as though, I didn't have the mammary glands for it, it was usually my wife.

A lady at work who's already raised 3 kids of her own, told me to start buying the rice cereal for babies and start mixing it in his bottle that you feed him right before you put him to bed. Not a lot so the milk becomes thick and makes it hard to come through the ninny hole. I would say with a full size bottle just under 1/4 - 1/8 of the bottle would be rice cereal, mixed with warm milk the rest of the way.

The reason they wake up throughout the night is because their liquid diet digests really fast, and they're therefore waking up every 2-3 hours crying because they're hungry again. That little bit of rice cereal mixed in with the milk adds just enough solid food so it takes longer to digest, therefore they're not waking up in the middle of the night.

The 1st night we did that, the baby went from waking up every 2-3 hours throughout the night, to sleeping completely through the night. It was like magic in a bottle. As they continue to get older, you up the amount of rice cereal to warm milk ratio and then eventually move them over to the oakmeal cereal.

So, I'm thinking your daughter at 7 months is already on some solid food diet. However, you'll want to make sure you feed her some solids just before putting her to bed. If you're just feeding her a bottle of formula or breast milk just before bed, that's most likely why she's waking up in the middle of the night.

There is a book called baby wise. We used the theory on all three of our kids and it is a miracle. All three of ours were sleeping through the night at two months. I have a 7 month old now and she sleeps all night every night. It stays with them too. My 5 and 3 year olds still sleep great now.

Yep, started my son at 6 weeks like I mentioned and he's been sleeping through the night ever since. He's now 18 months old and has pretty much developed the habit of sleeping through the night just as long as we feed him some solid food some time before we put him to bed.

Well I finally got my Engo winch installed, it took longer than I anticipated because my knuckles Offroad bumper and skid plate makes it almost impossible to get to the spots needed to bolt it on. Had to "attempt" to get the bolts off the skid plate, wasn't to successful because the had rusted. I got that bastard though. Here are some pics. Click image for larger version
