Why the large 08 vs 07 Rubicon MSRP increase?
Hello folks!
Does anyone know what content was added to the 08 Rubicon to justify the huge MSRP increase over the 07?
I've been lurking for a while and am getting ready to take the plunge (last Jeep I drove regularly was an M151A2 in 1986). I'm looking at "Limited" (i.e., 2DR) Rubicons and am trying to figure out why the MSRP jumped over $1,000 from 07 to 08. I see they added sat radio standard -- but what else? I know all JKs went up in price, but the Rubi's price increase seems huge!

This is exactly the reason. Chrysler saw how much the Dealers were marking up and still selling and wanted a piece of the pie. I was fortunate enough to get the dealer to agree to '07 pricing as I built it online and brought in the list of options and prices. It's really only saving me about $500.

So exactly what does the '08 have standard, I paid with the employee deal $29,200 and it came dual tops, mats, Srius, alarm, key fob, automatic windows...and an ashtray w/ lighter....(the 1st dealer's Ruby on the lot, got it coming off the truck...)...

High demand.
I got mine at 3.5% over invoice (dealer let it go with gritted teeth and that included tax, titling and license!!) about a month ago but they gave me an 8.89% APR on my loan (and I have platinum credit)
So I just got a loan from my bank and now save $66/month
Anyway, that may be a way to go.. don't press any lower than at most 3% over invoice or your dealer will likely say "no thanks."
I'm sure if I tried that again today they would have said no way.

I'm not sure if it is released yet but I think the 08's are coming with Central Tire Pressure Monitoring system. That's got to be worth...what....$999? (Just kidding).

Thanks for the replies! From what I've been able to tell, for a mere $1200 or so you get the sunrider soft top, sat radio, and the tire pressure monitoring system on your shiny, new 08 Rubi. And, of course, you get to give Mama Jeep an extra oh $400 just for grins.
