Do you have the 3:21 gearing right now? I've read before if you do you'll need a new carrier. If you have the 3:73 up you won't.

That is correct if you have 3.21 gears in the front D30 axle you will need a carrier. If you have 3.73 gears in the D30 you will be OK. PM us for pricing on gears and master install kits.

If you have 3.73 now you will need a rear carrier for the D44. If you have 3.21 you will need front and rear carrier.

Just the front with 3.21's. The rear carrier is fine. (this is a JK 44 that uses the JK 'thick' gears. You may be correct on the carrier break for non-jk d44's..)

You do not need to replace the rear carrier with 3.21 or with 3.73. If you have 3.73 you do not need a carrier in the front. If you have 3.21 you need to change the front carrier.

Jeep.com website. Find the Contact Us area, email them your VIN and ask for a build sheet. That will tell you what it left the factory with. If you think a previous owner might have regeared, lift a rear corner, mark the tire and the driveshaft, spin the tire and count driveshaft revolutions. Or, open up the diff and count the teeth.
