Lift Size for 35s?
What is the smallest size suspension lift that I could comfortably fit 35" tires on for a 2012 Sahara Unlimited? (by comfortable I mean no rubbing, no customization to fenders, etc.)
I just want to know what my options are so I can start figuring out pricing.
Thanks! (:

A 2 1/2 lift will do it. This amount of lift will not require modification to fenders (provided you install appropriate bumpstop extensions) or driveshaft. However, you may want to gusset the axles to provide additional strength due to the larger rolling mass of the tires, especially if plan to go off-road. Its cheap insurance. You could also sleeve the axles for more strength. If your jeep will not be doing any off-roading then these things need not be done.

2.5" and cut flares is a real good set up if you are gonna be wheelin it and flexing. My 2.5" budget boost didn't rub the stock flares the few times I had it out before I cut it, with aftermarket shocks and more flex it would rub. Cut flares just plain look better too If you're just doing it for show and not flexing/ wheeling it, then you can easily run 35's with 2.5" and stock flares or probably even a 1.5" leveling kit.

To me, comfortable is 2inch suspension lift and flat fenders. 1/4-1/2 above that DOES make a difference- been there, done that, had the pinion angle, and other imperfections to prove it. I'm a believer in lower is better.

I would go with Rock Krawler's 2.5" Flex kit. This will easily clear 35's and allow you to build upon the kit as your needs see fit.
Running an aftermarket front drive shaft is what we always recommend however a cheaper alternative is to run the exhaust spacer.

i have 35's (315/70/17 BFG AT T/A KO) and a super-cheap 1 3/4" daystar budget boost with stock fenders on a 2013 unlimited. rest of suspension is stock. it rubbed on the air dam and needed trimming just with road driving - i also did a small trim on the pinch seam. on the trails the rear rubs on the fenders and slightly on the rear bumper, and is very close to the pinch seam when flexed. i am going with flat fenders and trimming the pinch seam some more.
