On one install I did for a club member I didn't have to add any fluid at all. On mine, I was installing the Mopar cooler in place of a B&M style cooler I'd installed a few years earlier. Since the earlier install had involved cutting the return line at the flex hose I decided to replace the line set with the newer (post-recall) ones at the same time I did the cooler. I had to add about 1/2 quart once it was all done.

Removing the grill and bumper are a must.
The Mopar accessory trans cooler for 3.8L JKs isn't the same as the trans cooler on the 2012-2015. I'm not sure what's "useless" about the Mopar cooler, it's very effective, on my JKUR it performs as ell or better than the parts store B&M accessory cooler it replaced.

Although the kit instructions suggest the Jiffy Tite 3/8" quick connect tool be used to separate the cooler lines, you can just pop off the plastic caps with a screw driver, then use a small pick tool to remove the wire retaining clips. I've done it both ways and had no issues either way. Reinstalling the lines is just a "push til it clicks" routine.

The bumper does not have to be removed, just the grill. When you see the way the stock trans cooler is located below the A/C condenser, behind the front bumper & crossmemeber, basically out of any air flow, you wonder how that design ever got past an engineering review or long term testing.

If the grill will come off, you should be all set. Hard to tell from the picture.

You saved me from buying that Jiffy Tite tool that I would likely never use again. Pep Boys didn't carry it so I bought a pick set which would be much more useful in the future.

Thanks and thank you to everyone else that chimed in. This forum rocks. 🍺

Mine was very close, but does not rub. I used Ronjenx's suggestion on one of the others I did and it solved the issue.
