possible front axle upgrades
I'm going to take the front axle apart in order to install some synergy ball joints.
Are there any other sort of cheap upgrades that you recommend i do since everything is already apart?

I agree with nthinuf: Sleeves and gussets. Couple cheap upgrades with lots of real value. You can add gussets without pulling BJs, but why risk it?

I know about the kits that teraflex, synergy, and EVO make, but is there any particular brand that is recommended over the others? Or are they all kind of the same?

Some are a bit, even a lot, more difficult to install than others. I have EVO sleeves and gussets because when I did mine they were the only game in town. These days, since my Jeep sees expedition/overlanding instead of extreme rock crawling, I'd seriously consider some of the easier installs.

Some gusset kits do both upper and lower, others do upper only. If you are doing the uppers, why would you not go ahead and do the lowers at the same time.
For inner sleeves, you have a choice of - drilling a bunch of holes in the housing, cleaning it out, sliding in the sleeves, then welding up all of the holes so the housing bonds to the sleeves. Or for another companies version - freezing the sleeves to shrink them a bit and then sliding/hammering them in. Which is better?

Artec front axel armor kit. Best $250 you'll ever spend.

My old d44 had the entire ARTEC kit and synergy sleeves. Was absolutely bulletproof off road. I definitely recommend getting some skids on the lower control arm mounts as well, for the added strength and stability.
