Has anybody bolted on a chunk of steel channel without a bunch of modifications? I will be doing this soon, cuz it's cheap, but i'd like to see a picture.

Has anybody seen a JK with a straight steel channel bumper? I put in an order for a 5' chunk of 6" channel steel at the local machine shop and I plan to just drill holes and bolt it on, with the addition of some D rings. I think it would look really simple and kind of cool. did i mention cheap??
on my 83 Scrambler I used a piece of brick lintel (Angle Iron holds up brick over windows on house) as a back step bumper. I didnt have to worry about backing over just about anything.

ill be sure to post a couple pictures. i just got tired of the stock piece of tin foil wrapped in plastic. when i went to the machine shop, i was thinking of 3/16" channel, but all he had was 1/4". i like overkill tho. i got my weld-on D rings from tractor supply company with a 20,000 lb limit. should be cool

Yep, it's a really thick chunk of 2" x 6" channel steel.. which cost about $40 for a 5'. The D-rings are 20k lb test ($10 each) from Tractor Supply welded onto 1/4" plates. With all the steel and grade 8 hardware and misc. other little things, I spent about $120. I am going to fab up a grill guard and a stainless steel skid plate later on to protect the swaybar disconnect.
