50000 on the clock, actually 49300. Used 5w20 for the first two years, then recently started to have a weird light knock. Put 5w30 conventional in for 1000m and swapped in 5w30 Mobil 1. Motor runs great, tons of high end push, my tranny is what is starting to hold the jeep back i think

My 07 Sahara had 68k miles on it when I traded it in. i bought it with about 20k on the odometer and always put 5w-20 semi-synth in it every 5k miles. Ran like a top and didn't use any oil. No issues at all other then the clamp system for the down pipe on the drivers side rusted and came loose. 2 new bolts and it was fixed.

I have be fairly decent on oil changes. I have been using castrol 5-20. I am thinking to go with the 10-30 just because.

I use maybe a quart between oil changes, so i think I am good there.

I too agree they should have stuck with the 4.0l my last jeep had 300,000 on the original 4.0 when I sold it. and was still going strong. the rear maul leaked like a pig but I wasn't about to change it with that many miles on it. I sold it to a college kid in town and I still see it cruising around all the time.

If this 3.8l goes.. it's HEMI time.. :yup: something Jeep NEEDS to offer like NOW!

Why don't you try 5w30 instead of 10w30... Utah still has a cold winter, right?

I have heard that Jeep got rid of the inline 4.0 6cyl since it was so bulletproof. It was hurting their maintenance program. They switched to the v-6 3.8 since they realized that motor would require maintenance to keep it on the road.

Just what I heard but that wouldn't surprise me.

2009 X 41,600 miles. No issues yet, but only had it for 2 months. *crosses fingers*

Just another reason to wait for the 3.6L. 70,000 miles is the highest miles I've seen in this thread and 15% of folks have issues?!? That's terrible. It's 2011 and Chrysler is still selling cars that consume oil? A $30,000 car at that. The 4.2L I-6 in my Rainier gets oil changes in the 10-12K mile range per the oil life monitor and has never needed any oil added and we are at 97k with it. Of our 7 cars that we have taken over 100k and then sold only our Nissan Altima 2.5L used oil, 1 quart per 5k. It was also known as an oil burner, some actually caught fire when ran
low. ;)

I am really trying to wait for the 2012's and this thread reinforces that.

I've got an intake gasket leaking oil at 26'000.:naw:

Anthony

agree that the inline 6 felt like it could pop wheelies, but DC couldn't continue that motor due to emmision standards changing... (as I understand) but I am no expert. I am increasingly peeved that I am hearing of a new more powerful motor coming out... And I have only gotten to drive my 09 for a year, 10K miles before deploying for 2.
