33 inch tires
 

Guys, I want to know if anyone has driven the 4dr 2007 with the 32 inch tires then upgraded to the 33 inch tires. What I would like to know is how if anything does this do to the Acceleration off the line? I am thinking the 33 inch tires will tend to give the wrangler more get up and go over the 32 inch. Can anyone who has driven both set ups let me know???? THanks JDJ

i havnt driven one but in general when u put a bigger tire on a car it will not increase ur acceleration or power. It will most definately make the thing feel a bit more sluggish. That is why everyone says about regearing with bigger tires. I don't know how big of an effect the 33's would have but it would make it a tad bit mroe sluggish. but i don't really think it would have a problem turning 33's

if you want get up & go off the line , then you want a set of tires from a geo metro. Of course you may get high centered on speed bumps at that point. And you may hit the red line at 75 mph.:D

You got the formula backwards. The bigger the tire, the higher the grear ratio. The higher the gear ration the more sluggesh it will be off the line. Going from 32's to 33's will make a difference, but not too much. If you have stock 32's you must have a Sahara or Rubi and this most likely has 4.10 gears. These gears and 33's are very drivable, but not what I would call "quick".

I think most agree that going to 35 inch tires should have a re-gear. I have 33's now with 4.10s. If you are trying to give it more gittyup and go, do not go to bigger tires. If you like your tires and want a little more umph, go with a Cold Air Intake. I was very impressed with the extra power my Airaid CAI gave me.

X2 Going up a in tire sizes will make for a more sluggish ride, but going from 32's to 33's is not that big a jump for it to be a concern.

It does make a small difference in sluggishness. You can feel it more climbing hills than off the line. I'm thinking if I keep adding weight I may have to upgrade the gears.

I just upgraded from 32's to 33's and that little of a change makes no difference. I took readings of mph/rpm and compared speedo to GPS before and after - I'm sure there is a measureable difference but it's too insignificant to show up outside of the lab. No difference in acceleration or power. Now if you jump up to 35's that's a different story.

BTW, mine is a Rubicon with 4.10 gearing and auto trans.

I went from stock GY 32's to MT 33's, it feels a little more sluggish, not too bad.

mpg dropped a lot for the first few days, I'm not sure what that was all about, but now it's almost back to normal.

I burn a tank a day in it for work so I notice the smallest drop/increase in mpg.

I moved up to a BFG KM2 tire in 285x75x17 on my stock Moab wheels...tire is just shy of 33", and about an inch wider...no problems so far...of course, it helped that I installed Bilstein shocks, which gave me a slight lift, and I replaced the air dam with a Skid Row front skid...
