From above: I didn't use a strap or wire. Just ground off the inside the body to allow the mount bolt/washer to contact bare metal. My SWR is 1.6 on 1 and 40, 1 on 20.

Great thanks, I think I am making this more complicated than it is from reading other cobra 75 installs. Did you just follow the cool tech instructions? I briefed them but did not read details. I plan to install on saturday just wanted to have everything ready. Again thanks

I am getting 1.2 SWR I am happy with that. I did run the extra ground though. I am working on the video this weekend on the install. LOL had to do some language editing due to the PITA license plate bracket but it looks pretty good! Hopefully it will make putting that thing back together a bit easier for some.

Hate that thing. Hate hate hate it.
To answer the question, yes, I followed the instructions. They're pretty decent, actually. The only part I found lacking was when I reached the "Ok, I've made a drilling template on a bit of cardstock ... now where do I place it on the bracket? What do I line it up with? Do I place a corner in a corner, maybe an edge on an edge? This one, or that one?" part. It's not clear from the instructions, but other people's install photos will guide you.
