Prototype 4 dr JK Gas Tank Skid

The four door JK gas tank skid is something that has been on Clayton's mind for a few months now, but with our move into a larger shop, hiring new employees, and finishing up some other projects this one got put on the back burner for a little while. He got back at it and started working on a computer model of it.

I know this is a item that is in high demand with all of you so we are doing our best to get a prototype built. Once we are satisfied it will hold up to our high standards we will get it out on the market. I will put updates in this thread as Clayton makes progress on the skid.

Our new JK 4 door gas tank skid plate is engineered enough to get a prototype laser cut and bent up. We should have it test fit in a few weeks.

Our JK production gas tank skid is almost done. Our skid is a complete replacement, instead of just a cap on the factory piece. Because of this, we will have both stock and long arm versions. The difference between the long and short arm versions are cut outs for the lower control arm mounts on the frame. Some cutting and welding will allow you to convert from one version to the other.

Our expected weight will be around 90 lbs and made from 3/16ths inch steel. If all goes according to plan, this should be on our JK in about 2 weeks for some final fitment tests before production. You will need either our Long Arm or HD Crossmember for the skid plate to work.

I have been shopping for something like this and the other aftermarket solutions that replace the gas tank skid usually only protect the bottom of tank and not the side that faces the driveshaft like the stock version does.

Will ur cover the side same as stock skid and the long arm version work with Teraflex long arm system?

The skid will go up the side and protect where the driveshaft is, if you look above at the renderings we uploaded you should be able to see it. As far as it working with other long arm systems, we don't know at this point. You might have to take some measurements on your system, then call us when our skid plate is released and we can determine if it will work.
