Default Reattaching housing clips?

I just changed the air filter on my 2013 Rubicon. When I opened the housing, I noticed that one of the clips closest to the hose was already unhooked. After changing the filter, I can't get either of the clips closest to the hose back on... not even close to back on. Any suggestions?

On my 3.8 I use a screwdriver to pry them loose (in that little hook in the clip), then to push them back on.

Oh, do be careful not to break the plastic ears that hold the clip.

I broke one of the plastic ears on the clip that is hardest to fasten. Had to take the housing out, drilled a small hole in both sides of the slot and used a finishing nail inserted into the holes to hold the metal clip. Hasn't failed yet, but it's only a matter of time...

When it does go, a new air box is not too expensive--I paid $57--and comes with a new filter.

I swear it was easier on my 08 than it is on my 15.

Default 2013 Stock Air Filter Replacement Tip

For my 2013 Wrangler, first remove the two top bolts by the radiator supports. Now you can just pull up and lift the whole air filter box. Next unclip the four metal clips. This took me a while to figure out, as I always thought that the air filter box was bolted down, but it is not. Air filter changes now are very quick.

Default 2013 JK Repaced K&N

Nowww you tell me!!! . I happened to have changed mine tonight. Only took about 20 minutes - unscrewed/unclipped everything, took out the old filter, put in the K&N and clipped everything back up. Front lower clip was a beast though, but I finally got it through perseverance and a slightly hyper flexible wrist. Wish I had known the box came out. Never dreamed it was like that so I didn't YouTube it.

I was surprised though, for 12,600 mi and no offroading, the stock filter sure was dirty. Well the K&N is in, my last one went with my old TJ at 77k and not a problem. Looking forward to a long life!
