Default Rear Brakes Semi-Metallic?

Need to replace the brakes on my wife's 2010 JKUR. Called Firestone and they said the front pads are ceramic but the rear are semi-metallic. Does this sound right?

They have an option for rear ceramic but it's another $150! Is it worth going with ceramic all around?

Parts are Wagner. Is this a good substitute for Mopar OEM?

Thanks!

Up on the rack at Firestone. Tech called me out to see the brakes. Back brakes are toast! Front brakes look almost new. Funny, after 110k miles the backs need replaced and the fronts are fine. Keep in mind, the Jeep in normally either doing 70 mph or is sitting still. So, it is truly almost all highway miles. Nonetheless, I find it odd that little wear has occurred on the front brakes.

Oh, by the way, going with semi-metallic on the back.

The backs do wear quicker. I know I'm almost due for a change, but that's mainly from the gritty mud they occasionally see.

Front ceramic, rear semi-metallic is correct. $150 extra for ceramic is complete bull$hit, UNLESS they are including new rotors with the ceramic (and not with the semi-metallic) which should be done.

I just replaced my rear pads with the Hawk LTS pads, $65 bucks or so for a set of four. The rears definitely wear pretty quickly as I have around 17,000 on my 2012.

Wow. I have 49,000 miles on my 2012. My rear brakes are still fine. I think you got something weird going on. I know rears will go first, but not at 17k.

The rear pads are used a lot with ABS, Stability control, and down hill assist. If these functions are activated a lot some auto some manual the rear brakes take the brunt.

A mechanic told me a long time ago to go with softer pads because it's much easier to change pads more often then change harder pads and rotors.
Just passing it on

Just did my second rear pad change. This time along with rotors as an inch or 2 of the rotor edges were not being touched and they were very rusty. Tough driveway job to get them over the e brake shoes. First pad change were the Hawks. Really liked their grabbing power. This time got the best of rotors and pads from NAPA. All good now. Fronts still fine at 60k on an 08

I changed mine about 10,000 ago....I think. Go to O'Reillys, pads are inexpensive, and follow Project-JK write up.
