Default suggestions on loose heat shield

Wifes 2010 muffler heat shield has come loose on passenger side. The shield rusted through where it bolts to the stud. Tried loosening the nut and planned on using larger washer but no luck with that, the nut wont budge. Any suggestions?

When this happened on a truck of mine I extracted a solid ground wire out of 12/2 electric cord. I wrapped it up and twisted tightly. Since the solid wire was copper, it could withstand the heat and did not rust.

Ill give the ss clamp a try. Thanks in advance. I do have to ask, am I clamping the shield to the muffler or am I attaching it to the bolt the shield fell through?

This just happened to me on my '10. There is enough room to get a socket in there & remove the nut. It's just a stamped steel type & it will come off easy.
Reinstalled with some larger washers to support the heat shield & all is well.

Do you know what size socket. I tried everything I had and got close to getting it to bit but putting much torque on it slips off. I also noticed even with a swivel I still couldn't get a good bite on it.

I'm pretty sure it was a 7/16.

Well tried getting what I originally thought was just one rusted through bolt only to find 2 more. I ended up pulling the entire shield off. Can I get big enough hose clamps and have the heat shield directly contacting the muffler?
