Default Will a painted to match 2011 hard top fit a 2008?

I have a 2008 Flame Red Rubicon unlimited.

I currently have a soft top.

Thinking of ordering one of the new painted to match 2011 hard tops.

Does anyone know if it will fit on a 2008?

Have the changed anything?

Thanks!

Yesterday, there was someone asking what had changed around the windshield because the dealer told him he needed a 2011 hard top to fit his new 2011 wrangler & that an earlier version would not work. So definitely check it out, sounds like a pricey part.

Yes it will work but you need a wiring harness adaptor. I think MOPAR will carry the adaptors as well as the coloured HTs.

I just spoke to the parts guy at the dealer in Omaha and he said "they said it would not because there is a diffence in the mounting and wiring in the new model."

Do you have another contact or parts # for the adapter?

Thanks,

...you could probably find a used hard top and get it professionally painted for half of what the dealership would charge you for a new 2011 painted top anyway. Even if you found a used one with some minor damage, you could have it repaired and painted at the same time by the body shop.

I think I read that just the "painted" top add-on was an additional $950 over the normal hard top....I think.

Just another idea.

How much of a difference is it? Im sure it may not be a direct bolt on but it shouldn't be that serious of a mod to do. Maybe just adding on some additional brackets might be all that is needed.

I was told by my dealer that a 2011 will mount right up besides the wiring. It sounds like I better get a second opinion.

From what I've read/heard the freedom tops latch differently on '09's & up. I agree that an 07 or 08 top used painted with a new harness will be a good bit less expensive.

I own a 2011 jeep wrangler, Just got it last week ,Yes the 2011 top will fit the 2007 to 2010 jeep,s. BUT, you have to buy a windshield adapter ( header adapter it is called ) to fit the 2011 Hard top on a 2007 to 2010 jeep. And here is the problem straight from Chrysler The header adapter is not in production until later in 2011 . So if any one wants a 2011 top on there older JK, you will have to wait till they make them in 2011 .

This came straight from Chrysler / Mopar OEM parts 3 days ago !!!
Was on the phone with them for awhile , and this is what they told me when I asked to buy a new hard top for the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, They dont even have extra hard tops yet to sell, production is slower than demand right now!!
Yes they have part numbers, NO THEY DONT HAVE PARTS YET!!
One more thing, when they unloaded my jeep off transport, they tore a hole in the soft top, I have waited since last week for a new soft top, they told me today it was ordered thursday of this week. They cant even get a soft top for the 2011 jeep yet , so they might have to take one off of a Jeep waiting to be sold .Thats how new the 2011 Jeeps are !!!
