The plastic piece is simply a 'basic' stereo trim plate from Car Toys. It did nothing for the install other then dress up the appearance and cover the imperfections in the hole I had to cut through the face of the box.

[QUOTE=RETROMAG;2545278]Custom mount:QUOTE]

I really like what you did!

But since I need to put the hardtop for winter, do you think this set-up clear the center hook so I can clip the hardtop front roof panels?
Or maybe I will just need to relocate the box a little by aft direction so it will clear the hook.
Could you take some close pictures from where you attach your overhead to the speaker bar and on the front also, please. I saw there is some holes for bolts. Would like to see if you used existing bolt or not..
Would like to fabricate a similar overhead in my jeep...

thanx

Here's mine on my 2012 JKU. Mounted the CB with the Misch overhead tray center support and the Yaesu FT-8800R remote mount with the side support straps for the overhead tray. The overhead tray didn't work, couldn't get to the freedom top handle over the windshield hoop. Haven't decided where to put the ham base, probably under a seat. Posted this in response to the ham mount thread, thought it should go here too.

Going to use the Arizona Rocky Roads rear tire carrier mounts for the antennas and also the hood lip mount for the ham antenna and try out both ham antenna locations and see which one works out best.

I mounted mine in the hole where you would screw in your hard top. One screw and a few nuts and it's a pretty solid spot! If anyone want help I can make directions.

This thread is really informative about using the windshield footmans loop. My 2012 freedom top handle actually closes on the footmans loop so the 2012s have to allow for that. I don't know about the 2011s but I imagine they're the same. The previous interiors latch away from the footmans loop so you're free to use the entire loop as a mount.
