I wanted the radio to be inconspicuous and out of the way, but couldn't find the perfect spot. I currently have it mounted in the glove box and when I'm not using it I pull it off the bracket and store it in there.

I also have a 3 foot NGP firestik antenna. I get over a mile reception after tuning which is perfect since I mostly use the CB for keeping in touch with the group while wheeling.

Another above the mirror job. I started off by mounting my HR-2510 above the mirror simply because there was really no other place for the large beast. I wanted somewhere it was easy to use the controls and read the display. Then came the face for the Yaesu FTM-350AR. I searched and searched for a suitable location. In the end, I decided it had to go on top of the HR. Now I have my radio "stack" within eyeshot and easy to control.

How is the audio level on that 350? Do you run and external speaker?

To be honest, it's not that good. Around town I can get by. But highway it's windows up and still pretty useless. I don't have an external speaker yet. I'm debating on using a dedicated speaker or using the aux input on the stereo. Although I don't like the idea of having a wire plugged in the front of the deck.

Ok, I made a mistake with the mount. The location of the brackets don't work with the Freedom Top. I made a slight modification to the location of the brackets. All is good now.

I can't speak for Antonio_crd, but here's what I did. I got the idea from other posts in this forum. It's actually really simple. No drilling (except for the actual radio mounting bracket). I used a couple of 1/4" round insulated clamps and a couple of 3/4" L braces along with some nuts and bolts. I've posted an image of the hardware below and you can see how I used them in the previous posts. Basically, the clamps go around the footman loop (top center hook loop). The L braces are bolted to your radio mounting bracket. (Hence some drilling into that bracket may be required if the holes don't line up.) Nuts and bolts connect the two together. That's about all there is to it.

Cheers.
