It’s tough to go a week without stumbling on some bit of news about the new upcoming Jeep Wrangler. But there’s another forthcoming model generating some buzz as well.

According to Autoevolution, the 2017 Jeep Compass is expected to make its North American debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, while sporting an all-new look based on Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s small US Wide 4×4 platform.

The current model rides on the PM/MK platform, which Chrysler has borrowed from the 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander. The new Compass will also get a new 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that reportedly will be offered with the next-gen JL Wrangler, as well. There have also been rumors that the 2017 Compass could see a number of off-road upgrades in line with the Renegade Trailhawk, including 8.7 inches of ground clearance, underbody skid plates, and a fully-capable 4×4 system.

That, coupled with a few cool design tweaks, should make the 2017 Jeep Compass quite the interesting vehicle to check out at the L.A. Auto Show this November.
