Thousand Dollar Jeep Lego Set Is a Steal

Next time you’re trying to convince your kids to take care of their toys, just tell them this story.
A 1968 Lego Jeep set recently sold for $1,049 on eBay according to an AutoBlog report, which sounds pretty darn steep for a set of building blocks for kids.
Of course, considering that the 91-piece Lego set builds an old-school Willys, that $1,049 price tag could be a deal. While the AutoBlog report points out that you can find a used Jeep for less than $1,000 if you cast a wide enough net (hey, they said it, not me), the ’68 Jeep Lego collectible is nowhere near the most expensive amount ever paid for an item built out of the toy blocks.
A man reportedly paid $15,000 for a one-of-kind, platinum Avohkii Mask of Light Lego piece, which was originally owned by an 11-year-old boy who won it in a Cartoon Network Sweepstakes. So that kind of makes this boxed-up Willys a steal, right?
