Jeeps Craigslist

I sure wish there was a better method in place to catch people like this Wrangler thief, because these Craigslist incidents are alarming for those who really are looking to find a good deal on a Jeep.

As reported by a local Miami TV station, Local10.com, the latest Craigslist incident involves a woman who stole a Wrangler after it was posted for sale by Jorge Javier Coto. Coto told authorities that after putting the blue 2006 Jeep Wrangler for sale on the site in early February, he received a call several days later from a man asking for Coto’s work schedule and for a photo text of the vehicle’s identification number, presumably under the disguise of wanting to do a history check on the vehicle.

Surveillance video later captured a woman, who authorities suspect was in cahoots with the male caller, stealing the Jeep with an actual key.

The woman is described as 5′ 3″ to 5′ 5″ and about 150 pounds. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

Let this serve as food for thought about the necessary precautions when selling or buying a Jeep on Craigslist.
