This month in Texas, Dan Kruse Classics are set to auction a genuine tropical resort-styled Jeep fleet vehicle, a 1960 Willys Jeep DJ-3A Surrey. Exotic resorts often have a fleet of vehicles for guest exploring and shuttling, which this Willys Surrey in Caribbean Blue was designed for. And the amazing condition of this one is too good not to share.

The listing is shy of specs, but the Jeep gurus over at  JeepCollection provide a list of some rare Jeeps, where I found info on this particular model. They report this fleet-based vehicle had roughly only 1,100 examples ever produced. Slimming that number in thirds are offerings with three colorways; Willys dropped this exact model run to less than 400 each, which is of course super rare.

Based on the body style of the CJ-3A, Willys powered this RWD touring-targeted cruiser with a 134 cubic inch, four-cylinder engine, bolted to a three-on-tree Borg-Warner manual transmission. It looks exciting to shift and then place your hand back on that brilliant blue steering wheel. At an overall length of 136 inches, with an 80-inch wheelbase, it probably has a toy-like feel at speed. Looks like a blast to just tool around a hot tropical area with that open-air cabin and gorgeous Surrey soft top.

Ironically one of our staff experts, Christian Moe, was recently in Thailand and had an experience with a similar tourist Jeep, as you can see in the photos just above. However, Christian’s Jeep appears to be badged and powered differently. The Thai Jeep looks massively robust, with war-ready suspension, tires, chassis, and powertrain. Check out that 5-Speed on the floor MT and 4WD with the low-range 3rd lever feature.

Love the all-terrain tech, although for a fun summer adventurer I would take the Surrey on top. What about you?
