One of the bigger issues that the Wrangler has is its inability to keep in heat or cool air. In a lot of ways, the sound proofing and the the insulation on the Wrangler have a long way to go. That said, the JK is certainly ahead of the curve in both aspects when compared to previous generations. But it’s nowhere near perfect, so this week’s How-To Tuesday article will show you just how to insulate the JK hardtop.
Insulating the JK hardtop is something that is going to take some patience. Even those with previous experience will say it takes several hours to complete. The more times you go through this article, though, the more confidence you will have.
There really are not many steps or products needed for this DIY yourself project. Check out the article in order to see the prerequisites and necessary materials. Overall as you work through the steps, you’ll see that the installation is not overly difficult. The biggest key to keep in my mind is making sure that you are masking off properly. Don’t forget the old adage: measure twice and cut once.
It’s also going to be advantageous to visualize the final product before going in head first. The installation of the insulation itself seems like the easier portion. I would be almost more focused on the final covering materials than anything else. In the end, you are going to need to like what you see when you look inside your JK, the insulation itself obviously will not be visible.
