Japanese Jeepers Rock at Supercrawl Japan 2017

Rock-crawling fever has spread beyond the USA to the Land of the Rising Sun.

One of the coolest things about being a Jeep fanatic is the sense of community among Jeep owners. While some mainstream Jeep products have, say, diluted the ownership experience, true enthusiasts are still a tight bunch.

If you’ve had the chance to travel abroad, you’ll know that there are fewer Jeeps outside the USA. But while oversees communities might not be as big, passion for them still runs very strong.

This video by Wani Media transports us to a geographical location we normally don’t associate with Jeeps, much less rock-crawling: Japan! The video was filmed during the country’s 2017 Super Crawl event.

According to the U.S. Supercrawl’s website, “The Silver State Rock Crawling Championship quickly established itself as the largest rock crawling event in North America with 61 registered teams and almost 2000 people in attendance.” We’re happy to see that the sprit of the original event carries on in Japan. As you can see, the term “super crawl” isn’t being tossed around lightly, with massive boulders and extremely slippery conditions.

The featured Wrangler is extremely well equipped – and spotless, too. Plus, the driver clearly knows what he’s doing. We can appreciate his patience while tackling the technical course, as well as how gentle he is while handling his equipment. We certainly know a few Jeepers who are… less calm.

So if you find yourself visiting Japan anytime soon, don’t forget to identify yourself as a fellow Jeep enthusiast. Chances are you’re not alone.
