Jeep Avenger Earns Residual Value Award

Small but mighty Jeep Avenger EV takes home the Residual Value Award from Autovista Group.

After the Jeep Avenger EV hit European markets, the little American SUV did better than anyone expected. After evaluating Autovista Group data from around 17 European countries, the Jeep Avenger proves to successfully wedged itself into a niche and successful market. Almost as quickly as it hit dealerships, the Avenger EV was awarded the esteemed Residual Value Award in the small BEV category.

“We are very excited about the Small BEV category, as over the last decade there has been an increasing number of heavy, large, and expensive all-electric models,” said Dr Christof Engelskirchen, chief economist at Autovista Group. “This comes at a time when mass-market adoption is the real challenge the technology is facing. The choice of small BEVs remains limited within used-car markets but there have been more new launches recently.”

The small BEV category isn’t a small one, either. The Avenger was up against 26 other potential winners — but what ultimately set it apart from the competition was the range, the styling, the price point, charging speed and the name. Typical range for the Jeep averaged around 245 miles — with even more possible when put into city driving mode. For most European countries, this is more than enough in a single charge. Charging is quick to, with the Avenger able to charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes.

Eric Laforge, Head of the Jeep Brand in Enlarged Europe, says that the brand’s success has everything to do with the European market having different needs to Americans. Particularly in France, with their compact roads and dense cities. The small SUV is stylish, efficient, affordable and rugged — just want Europe needed as opposed to the larger more expensive EVs on the market.

While the Avenger may not be what Americans are looking for, it does prove that there is a market for a small, all-electric, affordable SUV. The name comes with a large weight, but the Avenger checks all the right boxes needed to attract new buyers, without alienating their established fanbase.
