Jeep Sales Drop for Month of April

Hold outs for new models could be the reason for the decline in April sales.

Wait, is it true? Did the sales for our beloved Jeep brand drop?

Apparently so, according to Yahoo Finance. The business news source is reporting that Jeep sales took a notable dive last month, showing a 17% decline in year-to-year sales.

But no need to panic, faithful Jeep fans. It appears that the biggest sales decrease for the beloved American nameplate came with the Jeep Compass, which saw a year-to-year sales drop of 61%. And that likely stems from the fact that most buyers are holding out for the all-new Compass.

The outgoing Jeep Patriot recorded a 53% sales decline from April 2017 to April 2016. The Renegade topped the month off with 8,619 units sold. While the only report of an increase in Jeep sales came from the Grand Cherokee, which creeped up to 6%, for a total of 18,877 units sold.

The Jeep Cherokee’s U.S. sales also saw a drop year-to-year, from 16,966 last April to 14,083 in April of 2017, according to a Fiat Chrysler Authority report.

However, it appears that Jeep is being pretty quiet on the sales numbers regarding the Wrangler. We’ve been digging around everywhere and can’t seem to find any reports of year-to-year sales for the most-beloved vehicle in the lineup. Although, we imagine that many Wrangler buyers will be holding out for the all-new JL model set to make its debut later this year.

From all we’ve heard, it could very well be one of the best Wranglers to date. One thing’s for certain, there definitely is a lot of anticipation building for the new Jeep.
