The New Renegade Looks to be Killer
I wasn’t too sure what the new Jeep Renegade would sound like. I was worried it would sound too artificial, or too pokey. Like it didn’t have enough power to actually be worthy of the Jeep name. Well, from the new Batman vs. Superman movie, we can finally hear and see the little Jeep in action.
The Jeep in this clip can clearly be seen pulling a pretty decent slide for the camera truck, which incidentally is also super cool. But the Renegade has been sort of a mystery since the truck was shown last year. We knew a few details, but really not that much. Now, we have a clear view of what we can expect.
First off, the noise. It definitely sounds like a boosted four-banger. That’s good. That means it might be a derivative of the 4C’s engine, and that makes a heck of a lot of horsepower for its diminutive stature. What that also means is that it will be just as tough as its bigger brothers.
Second: ride height. While probably lowered a bit for the movie, and stiffened to pull some of these slides off, we can get a general sense of the height of the little rig. It looks just high enough to deal with some small trails, but not too high where the ride would be really smooshy.
Overall, I’m pretty excited for the little car. The movie … meh, but the Jeep … definitely yes. I just hope the aftermarket embraces it. If they do, this thing will be killer.
