Ronald Reagan’s Jeep Included In National Historic Vehicle Register
The National Historic Vehicle Register, part of the Historic Vehicle Association, has included Ronald Reagan’s Jeep CJ-6 into their registry. Used lovingly by Reagan on his ranch, this 1962 CJ-6 was built as a work horse, and Reagan’s admiration for this Jeep was deeply rooted in American patriotism. Rewind a few years and you could find this Jeep at Reagan’s ranch near Santa Barbara, California. As noted in the video below, it represented a rare opportunity where Reagan was able to drive his own vehicle, as motorcades would become part of life for a number of years both during and after his presidency.
The Historic Vehicle Association, or HVA, aims to preserve important and significant vehicles in automotive history, so it is no surprise that Reagan’s Jeep has made it onto their list. This Jeep stands with other very significant rides, such as the Shelby Daytona Coupe, the Tucker 48 Prototype, the Mercedes 300 SL, and many others. Having a Jeep on the list is not at all shocking, seeing how important the brand was to shaping American combat front lines.
