TJ Frames ; Shame !
The rot problems of TJ frames is so well known and documented, why no Recall ?
Toyota had massive recall on their truck frames, why not Jeep?
Here in the Northeast, it's common to see TJs with rotted frames, that failed Safety Inspections.
We're not talking "old" vehicles, TJs that are "only" 11 years old are showing frame rot.The production run from 1996 to 2006 was long enough for this problem to be recognized and addressed.
Will it be ? Do you have to be killed to get a Recall ??

I've had my hands on 5 TJ's and none of them had frame rot issues. Most of mine have been from this area (VA) with the one being from MD and she had small bits of rot elsewhere.
I agree that it's an issue, but I don't think it's a big enough issue like our clockspring to warrant any kind of recall effort now. What was the original warranty on the frame? I think VW does a lifetime corrosion warranty, but that's VW.

It's a Big Issue in states that use salt ; the design of the frame accelerates the rot.
Replacing a clockspring, vs replacing a frame, not exactly a good comparison.

Do you have a TJ that's got the rot and failed inspection or are you just looking ahead? While VA doesn't use a ton of salt (for our 3 "storms" a year), I certainly put mine through its fair share of abuse by taking it out on the beach a couple times each month. On the TJ I'm looking into the Eastwood frame coater. It sprays inside the rails and encapsulates the rust to stop it. The JK will get the treatment after the TJ but I'd like to see it work before I do it to the JK.
Both frequent the beach and are within 50ft of the Atlantic Ocean when they go so rust prevention is high on my list.

Wow. Yep, I'd be irritated about that one. I just checked eBay for TJ frames because I've seen JK frames all day for $1200-1500 and the TJ frames are double that. There werea couple around $1500-1900 but still, that's insane. I was hoping you'd be at the level where it was just that bend that rotted out because I think Artec makes a kit to replace that bend and then you can add 2x3" for the end of the frame rails.
That's terrible. It'll make me more diligent about cleaning up the TJ frame

I'm hoping MD Juan, the company that makes Repro Jeep Tubs, Trailers, Everything, will make these frames.
Clean Arizona frames are $1900 on ebay. Then you need trailing arms, bushings, mounts, brake/ fuel lines.
At least I know where I'll be this Winter, in the Shop !

That is not something we see out here unless the Jeep has spent a ton of time at the beach playing in the salt water.
My son bought a Jeep TJ and it will have frame rot issue in the near future.
I think his Jeep either came from the coast or the mid-west with salty roads.
