I wouldn't have known there were so many veterans on here without this, good idea.

I work with a guy that has two Purple Hearts (IEDs) and one that was an admin assistant, both in their early thirties and both served less than 4 years. One talks about being in and what he did all day every day, the other is a Purple Heart mentor and while proud of his service doesn't talk about it until and unless asked. Can you guess which is which? Most don't bring it up and put it in front of them, they just carry it around as part of who they are, like having blue or brown eyes or their weight, not something to bring to every conversation.

The admin assistant talks about it every day, the wounded guy doesn't.......

I wasn't physically wounded, but did come back with strong TBI symptoms, and was diagnosed with TBI after cognitive testing. In my experience the guy struggling with "the new me" is too busy with that to go on about the great adventure.
