Big Changes at JK-FORUM!
A lot of folks have questions about recent changes around JK-FORUM, and there's no shortage of rumors. So, to the best of my ability, and with respect for everyone involved, I'll do my best to clear up any mysteries there might be.
As many of you may know, Eddie and Cindy Oh, the founders of JK-FORUM and PROJECT-JK, sold JK-FORUM to Internet Brands a year or so ago. IB owns and operates more than 130 automotive sites, and from what I can tell they know what makes a successful online community and what doesn't. Eddie's and Cindy's threads and posts will remain on JK-FORUM, but the Ohs and their other sites are no longer affiliated with JK-FORUM in any way.
Moving forward, the new administrator of JK-FORUM has made it clear that we'll operate the forum to best benefit the community it serves. And, by that, we're not just talking about the JK-FORUM community, but the whole Jeeping community. Among other things we're currently looking at are ways to support local clubs so that they don't have to run their own servers or work within the confines of a Facebook page; reviewing forum rules to foster more open discussion while still remaining an great investment for our sponsors; removing the obstacles that get in the way of the free sharing of opinions and ideas (vendor blacklists, heavy-handed infractions and banning, etc.); and bringing aboard new moderators from regions across the US to better represent our widespread membership.
You may be aware that the vendor ban was lifted recently. There's no blacklist of vendors about whom you may not speak. It benefits the vendors to hear comments from people who use their products in real situations. It benefits buyers who are wondering which products they should spend their hard-earned cash on. And it benefits the forum owner by forging a reputation for JK-FORUM as a valuable place for users to look for answers and contribute their own opinions.
Likewise, virtually all requests received recently to have a member ban lifted have been approved. All user bans on our Facebook page have been removed.
This is not to say that JK-FORUM will become a lawless wild west. The forum sponsors will continue to have their area where discussions are about their products and moderators will work to keep those discussions on topic; vendor and product comparisons belong in the tech sections where people naturally go to get answers to the their questions. And moderators will work with members to keep discussions civil and within the forum rules.
We moderators and admins are talking every day about how to take JK-FORUM forward in ways that benefit the community. If you have ideas for ways we can improve JK-FORUM you can always use the Contact Us link at the bottom of each page, send a PM to a moderator or the JK-Forum administrator, or post your comment to the Forum Support area on jk-forum.com.
Thank you for being a part of JK-FORUM, and Jeep on!

Yes. We know but we all feel we can turn the site around and with help from guys like you I am confident we can do it.
We are member friendly and will not be dropping the BAN hammer on members. We are encouraging open dialog in our threads. Hopefully you will see this and invite members that have gone to other forums to come back.
There are a lot of knowledgeable members here and we need to get the other guys back. I think you know many of the same guys I do so any help you and others can provide is much appreciated.

This is great news! I hope others will continue to return as I have. Ohers I have spoke with are upset that their posts were deleted and don't want to start over. It is a strange thing how important that is to some. It is hard to go from a few thousand down to a couple hundred as I have.
Let's continue to spread the word. Maybe a truce with JKO would be helpful.
