I think you nailed it. It seems Obamas term has been spent trying to bring the two sides together. Because they refuse, nothing gets gone. And Obama gets the blame. In his first book he brings up this issue numerous times.
Anyways, Its sad the people serving the country are also getting screwed by it. My brother in law just got sent to Libya (or somewhere nearby) on a few days notice. A week later, hes being told he's going back home. And then learns he might not be getting paid but still has to work. He and my sister have a 11 month old baby. She just moved back here while he was gone so our family can help her take care of the baby while she goes back to school. Now she cant afford a home or go to school. Im letting her move in with me to help her out. She now might have to work instead of going to school. My niece just started walking and talking. All she says is dad, dad, dad, and he's missing it. Its sad.
Cut Congresses pay. Give them a taste of it.

 

In my opinion, this mentality is what's causing this mess. No offense to you, I don't know you, so I can only go by your statement, but I think this whole Republican vs Democrat internal civil war needs to end before any real progress can be made. We are The United States of America, and we need to be "United" and work out the real problems void of any political agenda. If you think the Democrats were the only ones that caused this problem, you are paying way too much attention to the non-journalistic media.

I agree with Murdadock, we need to go back to Team America and stop this political clusterfuck between the Republicans and Democrats before it brings this great nation down.

First off before I rant… It is truly regrettable that our esteemed politicians are idiots and can’t compromise to the financial detriment of so many Federal Employees…

I guess all of the Bush spending had nothing to do with it our deficit... Or, say the bailouts that, Oh yeah, Bush put together (TARP, GM…a couple of banks)... Or, say the whole Iraq War... Or maybe the other War that was just about forgotten for 4 years with Bush... Probably because the "Mission was Accomplished"... (Oh, he still spent Billions there too)
I’m not saying we should or shouldn’t have got to war in either place… I’m just making a financial point…
I would think that if Republican's take control over Capitol Hill... I would expect at least two new wars somewhere in the world that we would of course be in...

The point of this rant other than to point out what Republican's always seem to forget about (i.e. Bush) is that the problem isn't Democrat or Republican...
IT IS THE POLORIZATION OF THE TWO AND THE CREATION OF ANOTHER CLASS IN AMERICA.... THE POLITICIAN... Dems and Republicans alike are filled with professional Politicians... Their loyalty lies not with their constituents but with those who can get them re-elected. NOT WITH THOSE WHOME THINK THEY ELLECTED THEM. But with those that paid to get them elected. I say it this way because, when was the last time you walked in the grocery... Odds are you either bought or almost bought something that you totally didn't need. That is called impulse buying... That same impulse is fed by Politicians' advertizing...ehm... election campaigns...
They feed you utter nonsense that their pollsters told them would help them get elected. How many times from both sides of the aisle have you heard one thing and they did another? It's a bunch of crap... I have yet to meet an honest Politician or one that actually speaks their mind and not that of their writers'...

Alright, I'm sure some of you are thinking... well they leave a very hard life running around talking with everyone trying to get everyone's opinion on things so that they can make up their own mind... I don't know about you, but when was the last time any politician asked you how you felt about anything? Hell I've worked around a great many of them and ya know what... They don't do it... Their # concern is re-election!!!

If you can't tell I'm fed up with Politicians and both parties a little past the brim!!!
We should fire the whole lot of them and start over...
99% of the questions they are asked of them to solve could be solved in one session if... If!!! we had people in both chambers and the executive that had any ability to use their own commonsense!!!

Athenian Democracy had it right... If you wanted to be a citizen then you had to vote in their version of a congress. From there an individual was elected their "leader" After you term was up... a vote was taken, if you were voted to have done a bad job then you were kicked out of the country for 10 years... If you were voted to have done a good job... You then got to go back to being a citizen... There was actual accountability...

I don't like Obama, but that was/is idiotic.

I took an oath to support and defend this nation against foreign and domestic threats and to obey the orders of our President ands that's exactly what will happen. I'll wake up Monday and put my uniform on and go to work as a proud Naval Officer.

History has a lot too teach us and if we fail to study and remember we will fail. Look at some of the greatest empires in human history. All have failed, ours will be no exception if we dont start learning from our mistakes and not repeating history.

FYI, I was in the Navy last time they did this in 95 and we still got paid. No mater what the "F"ing media says. We will still get paid. Were not hourly were salery so its no big deal its all politics.
