So where's the Navy?
I retired 10 years ago after serving 20 years. I was fortunate to interact with all 5 branches of the service as well as Canadian, Norweigan, British, German, Turks, Greeks, Danish, and Italian forces.
I'm surprised to see there isn't any more Navy guys on here than there are! I've been in the Navy 12 years now, only 8 more to retirement!! I've been stationed in Norfolk, VA pretty much my entire time in. Currently on deployment right now and can't wait to get home to buy more stuff for the Jeep. I'm a Gas Turbine Technician, E-6, hoping to put on Chief next year.
I went to Boot Camp in San Diego as well as Basic Electricity and Electronics School. Then to Great Lakes for ET "A" School along with a cold ass Winter; - 75 wind-chill. Then to Mare Island for 2 "C" Schools. Then back to San Diego to the USS Tarawa, LHA-1 (Eagle of the Sea). I might as well add all the other places. I re-enlisted for Satcom School at Ft. Gordon, GA. Back to Mare Island for a couple more schools. Then I got orders to the NATO base near Oslo, Norway. Right after I got there, they sent me to Latina, Italy (70 KM south of Rome) for 6 weeks. Rode my Harley down from Denmark. Did a month (2 weeks at Little Creek and 2 at NOB) before going to the USS Simon Lake in Holy Loch, Scotland. I had bought a 1986 Volvo 745 Turbo (which got flooded in Holy Loch). Got a 1991 replacement. Got married and orders to Groton, CT, where my daughter was born. Traded the Volvo for my first Jeep, a 1992 Cherokee Laredo. Traded that for a 1993 Grand Cherokee. Went to Sigonella, Sicily, Italy for 3 years and retired. Came back to the Austin area 10 years ago and I'm still here. I will have had my Rubicon for a year Memorial Day.

I was in from 93-03. Got out as a MA1 (Dog Handler). I was on the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3 as a undesignated Seaman/MA striker, ASU SWA Bahrain as a MA, 3 1/2 at NAVWEPSTA Yorktown as a Handler, and 3 at NAVSTA Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico as a Handler.
MR2(SW) in Guam on the USS Frank Cable (AS40). Here until May and then I start the STA-21 program. I've just about got a part which I've manufactured on every sub to cross through the Pacific, and stopped in Guam, in the last 2 1/2 years!
