I spent 4 years on the USS George Washington in the late 90's. Saw many of flight ops in the evening, nothing quite like it. Stay safe and keep on rockin!

I was very lucky and had a great career in the Nav; Did almost everything one could imagine - rode/worked on every 637 SSN but 3 - longest down without surfacing was 129 days and 4 trips to the north pole; did some time on Spru-cans, Kidds, and Tico's; flew in H-3's, SH-60's and P-3's and with the Army's Best the 160th SOAR(A) low and fast baby ; got one cat in a Cod and no traps what a ride that was. I had a great job and got to work with great crews above, on and below the sea and the high Pro top dog snake eaters of the Navy and Army.
Retired in June of '04. Moved to LOS (Thailand) to raise my boys. Currently working in the desert supporting the Dragon Lady. Miss it every day - the AF sucks.

Navy...1975-1979.
AD2, although all I ever touched were radial recips. Aircrewman. Flight Engineer on C-118 and C-131 down in GTMO. Crewed last ever operational sortie for a Navy seaplane (HU-16 amphibian). Made two cruises aboard Saratoga, as aircrew for the ship's COD (Grumman C-1A). 332 traps. How do you get over 300 traps in two years? Fly every TYT/Work-up sortie. We had to get 21 pilots 3 traps each, and I flew every one of them, twice. Next, be the only qualified C-1A aircrewman on the ship.. Crewed almost every sortie, and we flew more often than the air wing did.
It was crazy... But I loved it.
My regards,
Widewing
