Default Cutthroat Trout, Rocky Mountains

This week my DH and I took our "toys" east of Jackson Hole into the Gros Ventre Mountains to do some fishing and gold prospecting. (Yes, we did find a little gold). But even better, we got our limit of Cutthroat Trout. They didn't last long as we cooked them for our supper. Yum, yum! The limit is 3 cutthroat trout per day per person. The largest one I am holding up in this picture is just over 14 inches.

OMG, Now more than ever do I feel the need to head to the NC mountians and do a little trout fishing. I need the cool water to revive my soul and spirit and the trout (wraped in foil and placed in a bed of coals) for my body.

Nice string! I used to live in Alberta and went as much as possible. Love those eastern cutties!

Very nice! Have any pics of the "color"?

I've been wishing I was back up there, this drives the desire even harder. Maybe next year.

Sorry, I didn't think about how I was holding the fish. I just grabbed both ends of the stringer and held them up as my DH snapped the picture. We plan on doing more fishing soon and I will try to take better pics of the trout. We usually do most of our fishing in the Fall. There are fewer fishermen on the rivers and streams due to the fact the tourists are mostly gone except for leaf "peepers", and local folks are hunting then.

As for cooking them, I like simplicity. I shake them in a bag of flour and fry them in a pan with a little salt and pepper (sometimes a squirt of lemon juice). They are so sweet tasting (no "fishy" taste at all) that I hate to mask the flavor with all kinds of spices. OMG, my mouth is watering. I guess I know what I'm doing on my next days off.

I've only pan fried cat fish & I have always grilled my trout (stuck in a rut)
... but I'm getting tired of the same old.
Gravel Gertie, you have shown me the light and I am trying something new

Thanks
