I ain't swum in the ocean since I saw Jaws in the movies.

After seeing that video I ain't swimming in any muddy ponds either.

As far as fishing for those things. That's what dynamite is for.

Am I the only one that thinks those are some ugly ass mean fish?

Nope I know they are ugly ass mean fish. That said it is the reason I fish for them. Not quite combat style but I have been known to have to hack a few limbs off to get my bait back up in the tangle so i can hopefully horse one out with a rod and reel.

When they are that big I would think they would be too fishy tasting.
I don't really want to find out either...

Yuck.

I grew up in Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes) and we ate a lot of lake fish. Then I tried fish from the ocean. Now I cannot stand that fishy smell or taste.

Understandable.

I like to eat good fresh fish- but won't cook it in my house (the outdoor grill is my friend)- the lingering smell bothers me too.

Usually when I fish for sport, I catch & release unless it is a really nice one
No one else really eats it in the house.

In Florida as a kid, I did quite a bit of crab fishing- ate so much crab that I swore I would never touch it again.
...I grew out of it.

No in fact to me some fillets off the big ones taste better than the little ones. The beauty is you can trim the fillet taking off everything that is not the good white meat. The downside is it takes a few years to grow the big ones and they are the breeders in the population so I only take a couple that size a year and let the rest go. I do keep quite a few between 5 and 10 pounds though but those are mostly blues and channels not flatheads.
