It was really good fishing. Its crazy watching so many trout rise to eat the salmon flys. I didnt catch any rainbows but my brother and our buddy each caught one. Mostly browns. It really is insane during the hatch. I fish bennet springs and at Montauk a lot and that trip almost ruined me. Im not sure on the biggest we didnt keep, measure or weigh any of them but my brother caught a couple 20" browns. We really didnt catch any pigs but just a lot of good fish.

Right on.... I went through Gunnison back in 97' when we were headed to the Raggeds Wilderness Area above Crested Butte. Stopped in at the "Traders Rendezvous". I imagine you've been there as well. The owner saw my AK hat and traded me for a Traders Rendezvous hat....lol. Had I known the fishing was that good there I would have tried to make some time. But we were headed in for an elk hunt. We hunted around the "Dark" Canyon area.....that's why you saying "Black" Canyon kinda caught my eye.
Anyway.....that kind of fishing, and that amount of nice browns, really shows that the management on that river has really been successful. As a kid I spent, what seems like a lifetime catching failrly small rainbows. But probably one of my favorite fish I ever caught was a 13" brown. They are GREAT fish and live in a beautiful area....!!! I totally fell in love with the CO. Rockies.
Congrats again...
