That is what I was thinking?

I have never used a heater in a small tent even camping in -15C. I just make sure I have a good sleeping bag and a good foam pad with a wool blanket underneath to help retain my body heat. Don't sleep on air matteress they are brutal for retaining cold air under your body. Some wool socks and toque always help as well.

a good bag, pad and a touque is my method.

Although I will vote for the Mr.Buddy heaters being better than Coleman, we use them in the ice fishing huts

EDIT: that should be Mr. Heater Little Buddy not Mr. Buddy

I use a good sleeping bag and stuff the dog in the bottom before getting in. He loves it and is an awesome "hot water bottle" with added fur!

I've used the Mr. Heater Portable Buddy heater in a tent before. However I shut it off before going to sleep. Just makes me nervous to let it run all night. It's great for warming things up before going to sleep & when you wake up in the morning.

Yeah....I haven't ever used a heater in a tent all night long as I sleep....and I've slept in sub zero temps before. As long as you have a good bag, all you really need is just your little camp stove to warm up the tent a little when you get out of the bag.

I agree...I'm one of them as far as a mummy bag goes. I only zip it up a little for my legs and feet, and then the rest I just lay on top of me. But there are other good bags that aren't mummy bags.

I agree, I wouldn't run a heater in a tent. Too many things can go wrong. Like someone said above you can run one before you go to sleep and after you wake up but I wouldn't leave one on while I was sleeping. A good bag goes a long way. They also have the adhesive warmers you can put in the bag with you when you sleep that last 12 to 24 hours. Not very expensive and work well. I tried them once and they kept my bag nice and warm in below freezing temps. I have a Mr Heater big buddy portable heater and there is no way I would leave that on at night while sleeping. Even at the low setting it would be too hot running all night for a tent.

I second this method. We always tell our Boy Scouts to use a good bag, a closed cell foam pad and wear a hat when you sleep. Works well even in single digits (farenheit).
