Default Backpacking anyone

I have done a very limited amount of back packing in my life and would like to get back in to it. anyone have some good places to go? I'm in between Charlotte and asheville nc. I use to live on the AT in Virginia but would like to start off on smaller two and three day hikes even if you don't know of places feel free to shave your stories and pictures

I back pack every May. I generally go to Killarney Provincial Park in Canada about 550 miles from Detroit. It is truly a beautiful place.

Well it seems like nobody seems to know a good place in your area to go. I just googled "backpacking in NC" and all kinds of stuff came up. If that doesn't work for you, I'd go into a sporting goods store and ask around there. I would be willing to bet somebody there would be able to steer you to someplace cool.

Yeah, I would just hit up some of that lovely AT you live by. in 11 years and change when I retire...my first six months I'm going to do the whole thing straight.

I'm headed out to Congaree National Park in July with my youngest son. It's in South Carolina. We haven't decided if we will backpack or paddle--one or the other.
