Fast forward to v rock. We had waited for the whole run to pass at posi but somehow got ahead of the FJ and a few other rigs. We walked the crack at v and bypassed Hollywood to watch the crazies play on V. Here comes that FJ with his left tires in line with the stair steps. The spotters on v rock gave up trying to wave him off. So the FJ had both rights in the crack and he went for it. I have successfully done the very same line in my samurai which has gobs of flex, and it was still spooky.
1. He ignored his spotters.
2. He picked an extremely difficult line.
3. IFS was definitely a factor.
The only negative result of his 31" tires were the front left bumper caps he left behind. He would have made the far right line easily.

I think it was 06 or 07, I watched a VW baja bug climb the right side. If you commit and carry your roll through the shelf, it's a cakewalk. Where most people get into trouble is when they stop with their rears right at the shelf and try to creep up it. Most rigs with open diffs can find success with this method, throw a rear locker into the mix and u spin and slide right into the hole below the V, dropping your left rear and making a mess in your shorts.
