Newbie in Merced
Hey guys and gals, I just picked up a 2013 JKUR last week and I'm wondering what trails there are to do around Merced? I'm up here mainly for school but would love to get some time out on the trails when I can! Thanks for any info on trails and hoping to meet some others as into their jeeps as I am!

Haha i believe i saw you on san jose ave yesterday. Those new 2013 rims are sick. There are some small hills at the end of M st here in town. I usually dont get time to head into the sierras lately so ive been getting my off road fix on those hills but would be up to a small trip. Do u go to merced JC or the UC?
I go to the UC. I'll have to check out the hills at the end of M though! Thanks for the tip.
I just got back from yosemite actually, but just taking in the views. I'm definitely up for any trail runs though. Hope to see you around town

Ok, so you go to the UC.. I have worked at the Central Plant (Building next to big circurlar tank) for the past 8 Years. Coulda swore I saw you last wensday or thurs but there must be an identical jeep to yours running thru town. Yea if you ever want to hit some trails then Im more willing . I dont play in heavy brush trails because I hate scratches on a nearly new $30K DD vehicle.. Lucky for me though its not too much a problem around here cause there are plenty of wide open trails. Im off wendsday 930Am till Saturday. Rstefanski@ucmerced.edu or just swing bye the Central plant on a monday or tuesday if you wanna make some plans.

I'm from Merced also. Nice 2013 Rubicon. I ordered one as well. It should be here in about two weeks. There is an ohv park in la grange which is only about a 20 minute drive from Merced. It's mainly for atvs but there's a few spots for 4x4s. The shaver lake area has some challenging trails, but that's about a two hour drive. Hollister hills is also about two hours away. I'm up for a trip as soon as my Jeep gets here.

Welcome, if you guys plan on doing something let me know! We are always looking for something to do and would be happy to show you around the shaver lake area..... I'm biased but like it a lot better than hollister.
How about Sunday?

As soon as I get my Jeep (should be here any day now) I'm definitely hitting up shaver lake. I have a lift and tires ready to go on too. I'll let you know when I'll be up there so you can show me around if you have a chance.
