Default SoCal Visitor to CenCal looking for suggestions

Looking to take a week off in August to camp and hit a few trails. I'd like to visit the Sierra National Park. Probably just my wife and I, so we are looking for great views, historic sites, etc. Trails would need to be easy and moderate (moderate trails would need some traffic just in case we get into trouble). Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Brent

Im in the same situation....my final destination is South Lake Tahoe. I may make a detour through Yosemite. Anyone know of trails off or close to the 395?

We just did some trails above Mono Lake last month. Copper Mountain above Lee Vining is nice. If you do go that direction, eat at the Mobile Gas station: Tioga Gas Mart and Whoa Nellie Deli. I'm not kidding, gourmet food and coffee.

I agree! - great food, nice place to stop before heading up the mountain.
