Default Chrome again and again

I was in P.A.T. Dealer today for the oil change.

I visited the showroom, and I was (one more time) amazed by all the chrome on the 2010 Jeeps.

Examples:

Sahara Unlimited: grill chromed, also mirrors, handles, etc

Rubi Unlimited: They removed the Rubi rock rail and they installed the Sahara side steps WTF !!!

Also: The Patriots chromed everywhere

If you chrome it ..they will come ... or rather buy. Chrome sells ... period.

I prefer chrome-less myself ..even thinking of painting the Jeep logo black ..including the one on the steering wheel.

Here's the thing, I've never owned a Jeep prior to my JK so I'm very new to the whole Jeep lifestyle and like many others I thought a couple of little chrome accent pieces would look nice when I bought it (they were actually thrown in). Then some of us really start getting into our machines and join forums like this great place and we soon realize that chrome is just fugly on a Jeep and looks out of place. A chrome gas door isn't so bad but when you start seeing chrome grills, door handles, side mirrors all together on one Jeep, that's where looking OK starts to go downhill real fast.

Don't take it bad if you have chrome on your Jeep. Don't worry, I'll still accept to wheel with you!
IMHO Chrome was nice on the CJ's and YJ's because the parts was in metal. Now, it's crappy chrome on crappy plastic parts made in China. And I think that we already have enough plastic on our stock JK's

Why do thinks I have a Rubicon and winch ???

My favorite place is Chertsey; only 25 minutes of my office.

In Summer, I'm there almost each week-end

You must have some pics of wheeling your old Rubi at least, no?
