Fun ending to Camp NL X 2012..
so my buddy and i went to Camp NL 2012 this year and had a blast all weekend. Great people, great food, great trails and so much fun. We ended our weekend with an easy day on sunday playing on some easy trails around Bass lake and ended up at Forest to watch the big rigs play on the rocks. We ended our day in the early afternoon because we had to drive back to Barrie and our trial guide Dave was also heading back to Toronto.. we went to air up on the cottage road to wrap up our weekend...when..
all of a sudden we see this young guy huffing and buffing, covered in sweat, and with no shoes on walking in bare feet coming towards us.. he tells us that hes been walking over 45mins trying to find some help.. he tells us that him and his friend went offroading "alone" today and got thier new 2012 2dr jeep rubicon with only 2000 km's stuck in some water and mudd and it wont start now.. he tell us that he left his friend in the forest alone and he's scared that the "bears" are going to eat him..lol i asked him why? he said because hes white! lol i said the bears like white guys more then brown guys.. " ya they do.. im afraid the bears are going to get him"
We asked where are your shoes..? he had mudd from his knees down and walked the whole way in his bare feet! he said he lost them in the mudd lol.. so my friend Harold lucky enough had a spare pair of running shoes that fit the guy and i gave the guy some water and food. After getting this guy back on his feet and trying to describe where he left his friend our trail guide Dave without hesitation started to make room in his jeep for this guy.
We left harolds jeep and he jumped in with me along with our two friends.. in my 2dr jk..lol. So the two jeeps headed out and found the trail that the stuck rubicon was on.. hoping we didnt find his friend as bear food..lol. We found the jeep and his friend a short ways in the trail... stuck in the water and mudd.. we pulled the jeep out and checked it out.. we found what we were afraid of.. water in the air box..
So we got the jeep turned around and Dave towed it out of the forest onto the main cottage road.. the two guys admitted that it was pretty stupid going onto the trail alone and also admitted that everything they did offroading was completly wrong! lesson learned i guess.. the hard way
They got a hold of the tow company and arranged for them to pick up the jeep on the side of the road.. just in time too it started to pour down rain. So the two guys were from toronto and came up to the minden area for the day to hit the trails. These guys learned that Dave was heading home to toronto and asked if he wouldnt mind giving them a ride back to TO. Dave being such a great jeeper and a great guy said sure no problem. He rearranged all of his gear in his rig to now accomidate two extra passengers all the way back to toronto. Great team effort on sunday with everyone and it was another great example where jeep guys help each other out.. We ended up having an amazing weeekend and Harold and I cant wait till next years Camp NL
cheers,
Jesse

End of the story reported by Dave - dealer confirmed hydrolocked. Insurance paid the guy in full. Lucky bastard. Says he's not getting another jeep. Fun ride back to the city though, and they filled my gas tank. Woot!
