The Good, The Bad and The Warranty
I just had to start another thread about the warranty due to my last couple of visits to Durham Dodge.
I can't be more excited to tell you I am quite pleased with the service I got from them. Sometimes fighting tooth and nail but in the end, winning all the time (knock on wood)
I am coming up on 100k- what we call crunch time!!!
I've noticed ever since about 25k a knock in the rear end whenever I'd go from reverse to drive and press the gas. I thought it was weird but let it go for a bit. It got slightly worst as time went on and we brought it in for a diagnosis. They could not find anything wrong as usual and it cost us a fee. So time went on and still noise was there but at this point it sounded "natural" to me so there was nothing I could do. After all I didn't know exactly what the noise was.
Well 97 500kms and I felt it was time to change my diff. oil and very glad I did. The rear diff. had chuncks of metal gauged out of the pinion gears. I knew it was a huge no no. I ended up putting everything back together and calling roadside assistance to tow it in to Durham Dodge. Making it all dramatic is key at this point for us
Took em a few days to get back to us but that it was all under warranty and it would take a few more days before we could get it back. 11 days total but no one's complaning. Even with a 5 day caravan rental and all. I was quite happy with the fix, it drives like NEW now. Like night and day.
So now comes the icing on the cake, they had to remove the axle to fix pinion gears and when we got it back after a 20 minute drive the rear passenger was smoking. Hot to the touch, could cook a steak on it! We called em back immediately and turns out the caliper had seized somewhere in between us dropping it off for 11 days and getting it back. I knew they fawked up and couldn't say a damn thing about it being our fault. They inspected it and called us saying the passenger is done but Chrysler would not warrant just the one, so they had to say both rears went to get them to replace it. I was BLOWN away, when does that ever happen? Must have been our lucky last 2500kms if I do say so myself. Not only are they relplacing the calipers, but the brakes and rotors TOO!!!
Yup that's right, the whole kit and kaboodle. So needless to say from our personal expirience Durham Dodge knows how to keep customers happy. I figure it was their way of assuring our next vehicle would remain a Chrysler after the GREAT service we got from them.
There were a couple of visits where things got heated between us because they wouldn't cover this or that. But like I said you gotta fight tooth and nail sometimes and it pays off it the end.
All in all, get that warranty, it will pay for itself a few times over

Get your universal joints replaceed under warranty otherwise it at least $450 out of your pocket mine just done @ 118000K seee thread below .. looks like other folks have the same problem ...
Off roading, diff. oil should be done every year, depends on how hard you go. I changed mine once before, everything looked good. The manual says only to inspect every 30k. But we outta know to replace it anyway. Maybe they depend on us not to change it
